Hemi's career spans over a 14 year period as an academic in Commerce at Victoria and Auckland universities; followed by a 10 year focus completing a range of Māori development projects. Before re-joining the consultancy ranks in late 2007, Hemi worked in the public sector, first with the State Services Commission and then as Director Māori and Community Relations with ACC.
Hemi's particular interests are strategic thinking and leadership, especially the contributions from these areas to Māori development.
Hemi's experience includes organisational re-structures, strategic planning in the private sector, and acting senior management roles. Hemi has also been involved in a number of interesting initiatives, for example promoting a company for listing on the NZSE, and acting as the lead negotiator for a multi-Iwi company in their negotiations with the Crown.
